“Eating Her Words” holds duplicitous meaning for me. I have been a lifelong foodie, even before the term ‘foodie’ existed, and I am constantly eating crow and my own words. I have a serious case of foot in mouth syndrome, mostly because, unlike Instagram, I have no filter. My favorite part of the day is meal time, snack time, or really any time where food is consumed, and when I’m not eating I am thinking about food, reading about food, or writing notes about food. It’s a serious love affair.
I’ve been in a classroom teaching middle school science for the last five years, and while I already miss it, I feel like I want to try something new. This will be the first time since I was 15 that I haven’t had a job, and I am the type of person that MUST stay busy, or I will fall into a deep, dark hole of procrastination and self deprivation. So, what better way than to find some accountability than a bunch of strangers on the internet reading my work?? But seriously, blogging seemed like a great way to find some community while out of work and like the perfect place to document some of my favorite foodie moments.
When I’m not daydreaming about heirloom tomatoes and perfect dinner party side dishes I love to spend time with my husband, Chris. He pretty much completes me. I am slightly neurotic and face anxiety about minutia, and he is like a duck in water when it comes to pretty much any situation. Well, except painting and hanging curtains. Truly, those are the only two times I have ever seen him lose it! He is my favorite guinea pig when it comes to trying new things in the kitchen.
We just welcomed our first kiddo on September 1st, and I am so in love. I’m hoping I can use this platform as a place to bounce ideas off of other mothers, as well as share some of my experiences. You know… musings of a normal mom, not one of those perfect ones that seem to be trolling the internet these days.
Welp, thats about it. I really hope you’ll check back in every now and again and make sure I’m still posting and not just laying on the couch with a bowl of popcorn everyday. Also, check me out on Instagram and Facebook!
